Daniel Boulud

Daniel BouludChef Daniel Boulud is the Chef-Owner of ten award-winning, critically-acclaimed restaurants and the Feast and Fêtes catering company that make up The Dinex Group, based in New York City.  In October of 2009, Chef Boulud was awarded the top accolade of Three Michelin Stars for his restaurant DANIEL, on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

 

In December of 2008, Daniel made his first official debut on the Canadian dining scene when he and partners David and Manjy Sidoo introduced the chic db Bistro Moderne (sister restaurant to db Bistro Moderne in midtown Manhattan), and re-introduced the Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux Lumière restaurant to Vancouver.

 

Lumière and db Bistro Moderne share Dinex management and a West Broadway address in the upscale, beach-side neighborhood of Kitsilano on Vancouver's tony west side.

Daniel's culinary roots and unbrided passion hail from Lyon, the French capital of gastronomy, but he truly mastered his craft over two decades in New York City. Today, he gains inspiration from his native Lyon, bustling Manhattan, and from the supremely talented Chefs de Cuisine at his restaurants in Palm Beach, Las Vegas, Beijing and Vancouver.

 

Over the course of these past two decades, Daniel evolved from a Chef to a Chef-Restaurateur with five restaurants in New York - namely DANIEL, Café Boulud, db Bistro Moderne in midtown Manhattan, Bar Boulud across from Lincoln Center, and DBGB Kitchen and Bar. Domestically his culinary reach extends to Café Boulud in Palm Beach, and Daniel Boulud Brasserie at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas. In May of 2008, Daniel opened Maison Boulud in the Legation Quarter in Beijing, China.

 

Chef Boulud's reputation as one of the world's greatest chefs is well-known, as is the fact that his DANIEL in New York City is considered one of the ten best restaurants in the world. Daniel is the recipient of James Beard Foundation awards for Outstanding Restaurateur and Best Chef of New York City. DANIEL received Gourmet magazine's Top Table award, a coveted four-star rating from the New York Times, Wine Spectator's Grand Award, and New York City's top rating for cuisine, service and decor in the Zagat Survey.

 

In 2006, the French government named Daniel Boulud a Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur, for his contribution to the advancement of French culinary culture. Daniel has published six books, including Daniel's Dish, Letters to a Young Chef, Daniel Boulud's Cafe Boulud Cookbook, Chef Daniel Boulud: Cooking in New York City, Braise: a Journey Through International Cuisine, and Cooking with Daniel Boulud.

 

In the spring of 2008, Daniel launched the third season of his television series After Hours with Daniel. Chef Boulud is a tireless philanthropist, having served countless charities, and, since 2003 has been an active member of the Board of Directors of (New York) Citymeals-on-Wheels. He is a patient and exacting mentor to aspiring young chefs both in his kitchens and around the world.
